5 Nursery Trends We Love!
DARK WALLS - Don’t be afraid of the Dark!
We’ve seen grey walls in nurseries for a while now. Though it’s still fabulous (I painted mine grey!) – Navy is emerging as the new grey. It’s a great neutral that goes with so many colours – aqua, coral, silver, gold, red to name just a few.
Don’t be afraid to use it even in small apartments – you’ll be surprised with the result. Make sure some accents like the rug, picture frames etc and furniture are white though so that things don’t get too dark in there.
Try Feroza’s Kyoto dohar with a white crib in a Navy painted nursery – its such a fresh, modern look!
Navy accessories like this tissue paper garland available at Red Carasol would look great above the changing table in this room.
CHEVRON – It’s here to stay!
Right – so there’s nothing new about chevron – we see it every year. But it’s just such a timeless pattern that layers with other prints/linens so well and goes with ANY look. You know we love our chevrons at Feroza :) We have a collection of chevron dohars and quilts in different colours – because its just a GREAT print. Take a look at these nurseries if you don’t believe us! Again don’t go crazy with the chevrons and have it on the walls, the rug, the linen … just a touch goes a long way.
For chevron rugs in Singapore take a look at Ruby Slipper. You can choose your chevron pattern and the colour and they will custom make it for you.
NEW TREND ALERT – Tribal!
We've been seeing stuffed animal heads popping up all over the place. At first I thought it was such a strange thing to put in a child’s room but I’m really warming up to the idea now.
Cuckoo does some adorable ones that helped change my mind on this trend. Find them here.
The other trend that goes with this Tribal look and is spreading like wild fire is arrows. We are seeing this on wall paper, bedding, wall art and even on boppy pillows!
Choose colours that go with your theme. You can mount them on the wall with some washi tape or just put them in a jar. Etsy has them in all sorts of colours here.
So what else goes with stuffed animal heads and wild arrows you ask? Well a teepee of course! Its such a perfect space for quiet time with a good book or some role play. Cuckoo does a lovely one in white which would go with almost any room (find it here)
ANIMALS – captured in print
This is one that I am personally obsessed with. I just love the idea of a large black and white photograph of these beautiful animals as a focal point of the room.
A fantastic source for these prints is this online store. Our Starburst Dohar or Grey Chevron Dohar would be a great choice for the crib bedding.
Here are some nursery inspirations using this trend:
I just love this nursery – it’s so light and fresh and combines our love for chevron and animal prints!
WALLPAPER – or wall decals for the not so brave
A lot of us in Singapore rent – so wallpaper is not an option. But a great way to get a similar effect is to use some removable wall decals. And I’m not talking about the forest friends and bunnies and Disney characters. Urban Walls and Walls by Mur have some brilliant geometric wall decals that give a dramatic finish to any nursery. Check out their websites or follow them on Instagram for some great ideas on how to use their decals. Some designs we love are triangles, polka dots, metallic dots and tear drops.
